Real-time LBS pixel timing synchronization
AR see-through applications challenge the display design to work in different operating profiles and conditions, to the highest performance. Laser Beam Scanning (LBS) displays are perfectly suited for the task, utilizing the advantages of laser scanning agility and flexibility by pixel-wise scanning. However, changes within the operating conditions of AR see-through devices could cause factory calibration to drift and be less accurate, resulting in less accurate synchronization between the data and scanner position, and in derogation of image perceived quality such as blurring and reduced MTF. Maradin presents a novel real-time pixel timing synchronization scheme that assures such drifts are compensated and reduces the need for long and expensive factory calibrations for AR see-through displays.
