Women's Health and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): the Importance of Prevention and Early Diagnosis

Objective: This research aimed to analyze the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) for women's health. Methodology: To achieve this objective, a bibliographic research methodology was adopted, with a survey and analysis of articles, studies and data from scientific platforms such as SciELO, Scopus and Google Scholar, in addition to Brazilian repositories. Results: The research revealed that, despite advances in public health policies, lack of information, social stigma and unequal access to health services are still significant barriers to the prevention and early diagnosis of STIs. It was also found that early diagnosis has a direct impact on reducing complications associated with STIs, such as infertility and cervical cancer, in addition to contributing to the reduction of disease transmission. Conclusion: In conclusion, we highlight the need for more effective public policies, the intensification of sexual education and the reduction of stigma related to STIs to ensure that women have access to adequate health care and the prevention of these diseases.
