A Dual-Band Metasurface Antenna for Indoor Access Point and 5G Application
In this work, a metasurface antenna suitable for dual-band operation is proposed. The antenna is driven by a microstrip line with a fan-shaped fillet at the end, consisting of a 4 ×4 square patch, whose side and edge patches are etched with single slots and cross slots, respectively, for the purpose of controlling the mode and radiation pattern of the patches. The antenna is analyzed using the method of characteristic modes analysis (CMA). The simulation results depict that the -10 dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna is 3.48-4.34 GHz (21.99%) and 5.26-6.0 GHz (13.14%), together with a simulated gain of 11.35 dBi and 7.11 dBi, respectively. The proposed metasurface antenna is designed to cover the 5G band and Wi-Fi 6 band, making it an optimal choice for indoor access point applications.
