A 77 GHz Millimeter-wave Radar Antenna with a Reflector Structure
In this paper, a 77 GHz microstrip patch millimeter wave radar antenna is proposed for the problems of narrow bandwidth and low gain of a microstrip patch antenna, which can be applied to the anti-unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) system to detect unmanned aircraft. This millimeter wave radar antenna mainly includes a radiating body structure, an air layer, and a reflector structure. The radiating element consists of eight 1*8 string-fed array antennas and dielectric substrates, and the string-fed line array is designed based on the Chebyshev array synthesis method. Based on the 8*8 array antenna, the antenna's gain is improved based on the reflector structure. After simulation, it is shown that the antenna gain at 77Ghz is 10.58dB the -10dB impedance bandwidth is 6.6GHz without increasing the reflector structure, and the -10dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna with increasing the reflector structure is 4.5GHz. The gain of the antenna at 77GHz is 13.27dB, which is an increase of 2.67dB year-on-year, with a certain degree of directionality and sufficient bandwidth.
