Transcriptome-wide m6A modification and poly(A) tail length changes in moso bamboo induced by gibberellin revealed by nanopore direct RNA sequencing
Gibberellin (GA) is essential for regulating seed germination, plant growth, flowering, and fruiting. While bamboo, renowned for its rapid growth, relies on GA to promote growth and development, the underlying mechanisms—particularly epigenetic regulations such as N 6 -methyladenosine (m 6 A) modification and poly(A) tail length (PAL)—remain poorly understood. In this study, Nanopore direct RNA sequencing (DRS) was utilized to reveal the regulatory effects of GA on m 6 A modification and PAL in Moso bamboo. These findings highlight the crucial function of m 6 A modifications and PAL in the growth of Moso bamboo. Specifically, epigenetic modifications of genes participating in GA biosynthesis and metabolism, auxin transport, and abscisic acid signaling contributes to creating a complex hormonal interplay that drives bamboo growth. • A model was proposed to explain Moso bamboo development after GA treatment. • GA enhances Moso bamboo development by regulating m 6 A modification. • GA facilitates Moso bamboo development by altering Poly(A) Tail Length.
