The Influence of Verticality of the VLF Trailing Antenna on the Radiation Field

The paper calculates the current distribution of very-low-frequency trailing antennas of different shape using the moment method. Based on the propagation theory in the isotropic and homogeneous earth-ionosphere waveguide propagation theory for very-low-frequency electromagnetic wave, we investigate the influence of the antenna verticality for the electric field distribution. The result suggests that the electric field strength is increased by 5dB when the antenna verticality increases from 60% to 80%.

Abstract

The paper calculates the current distribution of very-low-frequency trailing antennas of different shape using the moment method. Based on the propagation theory in the isotropic and homogeneous earth-ionosphere waveguide propagation theory for very-low-frequency electromagnetic wave, we investigate the influence of the antenna verticality for the electric field distribution. The result suggests that the electric field strength is increased by 5dB when the antenna verticality increases from 60% to 80%.
