Design of a wideband wide-angle scanning 1- D phased array antenna
In this paper, a wideband wide-angle scanning one-dimensional phased array antenna at the Ku-band is designed, which use a continuous current sheet structure to form a tightly coupled dipole array (TCDA), to achieve a wide bandwidth. In addition, a structure consisting of dielectric substrate and toroidal metal sheet on top of the antenna is added as a wide-angle matching layer to improve the active VSWR during large-angle scanning. The simulation results show that the VSWR under 3.1 at different scanning angles within the frequency band of 11 GHz~24 GHz, realizing the scanning angle ranges from -60∘to 60° in the E-plane of the array, and the gain fluctuation less than 2 dB during beam scanning.
