E-Band High-Gain Wideband Slot Antenna Array with Microstrip Ridge Gap Waveguide Feeding Network

A broadband high-gain 16 ×16 array in E-band and its radiation character are presented. The array consists of subarray of 2 × 2 cavity antenna based on microstrip ridge gap waveguide technique (MRGWG). The upper printed circuit boards (PCB) lays the substrate integrated 2 × 2 slot antenna array and the lower layer is the GWG power divider feeding network. A novel T-junction power divider and a standard rectangular waveguide GWG transition interface is designed and manufactured. Simulated results show that the array has a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\vert \mathrm{S}11 \vert \leqq 10\ \text{dB}$</tex>, a maximum gain of 29.6 dB and a 3dB beam width of 4 degree in the operating frequency range of 73–84 GHz.
