Improved Air-Stripline Using PCB Technology And Research on Its Applications

This paper presents an improved air-stripline using PCB technology for low loss and easy assembly. Compared with traditional stripline based on two layers of substrates, the insertion loss of the design herein is lower, while compared with traditional air-stripline based on suspended transmission line, the improved stripline in this paper is easier to be fabricated and assembled due to the absence of the nylon screw. The proposed air-stripline is simulated and discussed. Furthermore, a 1:8 power divider and a linear array with 8 units are designed based on the proposed stripline to clarify its application. Measured results show that the maximum insertion loss of the power divider over 4.5GHz-6.5GHz is better than 9.3dB, which is 0.3dB higher than the theoretical value, and the realized peak gain of the linear array is 13.1dB at the center frequency 5.5 GHz.
