An Equinoctial Asymmetry Index Model of Ionospheric Scintillation Occurrences Over Chinese Low Latitude Region
By analyzing the observations of UHF-band scintillations recorded at the Haikou station (geographic 20.0°N, 110°E) of the low latitude region in China from 2010 to 2017, we found that the scintillation occurrences are greater in the vernal equinox than in the autumn equinox during the seven years but 2011. Based on the monthly occurrences of ionospheric scintillations and the relationship between season and solar activity, an equinoctial asymmetry index empirical model of scintillation occurrences is firstly established over Chinese low latitude region, which could accurately describe the seasonal asymmetry variation characteristics of the scintillation occurrences, and it has an important application value.
