Comprehensive Study on Electromagnetic Absorption and Mechanical Properties of Honeycomb Structure
As the detection capabilities of modern detectors represented by radar continue to improve, the demand for stealth technology in aerospace is growing, which has promoted the development of advanced absorbing materials and structures. Honeycomb absorbing structure is a new type of sandwich structure, has excellent load-bearing capacity and absorbing performance. In order to improve the absorption and mechanical performance of honeycomb structure simultaneously, the gradient honeycomb absorbing structures with top skin and bonding layer are designed. The equivalent electromagnetic parameters are obtained by Hashin-Shtrikman (HS) method and the out-of-plane compressive performance of the honeycomb is simulated using the quasi-static compression method. The results show that increasing the honeycomb height effectively enhances the wave absorption performance of the honeycomb, achieving a reflectivity below -20 dB near the absorption peaks, while having minimal impact on mechanical properties. Reducing the honeycomb aperture size can strengthen the out-of-plane compressive performance of the honeycomb, but does not significantly improve the wave absorption effect.
