Design of the Unit Cell Based on Liquid Crystal for A Beam Scanning Reflectarray
In this paper, the unit cell of the beam scanning reflectarray is proposed. The unit cell is based on the liquid crystal (LC), which consists of two dielectric substrate layers and an LC layer. In the simulation, when the relative permittivity of the LC ranges from 2.5 to 3.0, the tunable reflection phase range of the proposed unit cell reaches about 300° at 11 GHz. To verify the proposed unit cell, the reflectarray consisting of 10×10 LC-based unit cells is designed and simulated. The simulated first sidelobe level (SLL) is less than -14 dB at 11.4 GHz. And the max gain is 19.27 dB in the working band.
