Ultra-Low Profile Folding Transmission Array Based on the W Band
Here we propose a design method for an ultra-low profile folding transmission array based on W band. The folded transmission array antenna designed in this paper has two kinds of metasurface(MS) array, and an open waveguide as feed. On this basis, the lower MS can efficiently convert the linear polarization incoming wave emitted by the feed into the cross-polarization reflection wave. The upper MS can realize full reflection of a specific linear polarization wave and full transmission of another linear polarization wave, while converting the transmitted linear polarization wave into a cross-polarization wave. Through reasonable design and ray tracking principle, the antenna can reflect the radiation electromagnetic waves on the upper and lower MS three times, and its profile can be reduced to 1/4 of the traditional transmission array. Simulation results show that the antenna has a 3dB gain bandwidth of 2 GHz from 77 to 79 GHz, a peak gain of 15.1dBi at 78GHz, cross-polarization averaging below-15dB and sub-valve averaging below 10dB. This design method aims to achieve low profile and high efficiency antenna solution, providing new ideas for W band array antennas requiring compact size and good performance.
