Recent Developments of Transparent Antenna
As the need to integrate various wireless communication systems into mobile devices, Antenna-on-Display (AoD) technology is considered one of the key solutions to address the challenge of limited antenna space. AoD design avoids pattern obstruction of image displays using structures such as metal mesh or conductive films, while maintaining electromagnetic characteristics similar to those of non-transparent antennas, showing broad prospects in various practical applications. This paper reviews some recent advances in transparent antennas and compares various design schemes for transparent antennas based on metal mesh. The approaches for transparent antenna design based on metal mesh are classified and described briefly, such as leaky-wave antennas, artificial magnetic conductor (AMC), linear array antennas, and coplanar vivaldi antennas. The corresponding operating mechanisms and performance are discussed in detail.
