Transfer Matrix Method Applied for Radio Waves Reflection on Sporadic E Layers
The Sporadic E layers have effects on HF and VHF electromagnetic waves. In general, the electromagnetic waves are partially reflected by sporadic E layers. Thus the reflectivity is crucial for radio propagation. In this study, we apply the transfer matrix method to calculate the reflectivity of sporadic E layers. This method gives the reflectivity of sporadic E layers with any structures. Results show the reflectivity is largely determined by the structures and edge thickness of sporadic E layers.
