Modeling of Magnetoelectric Laminate Composite Using 2D-FDTD Method
Magnetoelectric (ME) laminate composites exhibit stronger magnetoelectric effect than other ME composites, which can be used in many fields such as sensor, resonator and antenna. Based on the established multiphysics field coupling equations, a two-dimension Finite-Difference Time-Domain (2-D FDTD) model is proposed to analyze the resonance performance of ME laminate composites. The linear constitutive relationship is applied to describe piezoelectric and magnetostrictive effects in ME composites. The simulation result shows that the proposed FDTD model can analyze the transverse and longitudinal stresses and be used to predict the resonance frequency of ME laminate composites in different directions, which gives more generalized analysis than bulk acoustic wave FDTD model.
