A Novel Low Profile Stacked Microstrip Wideband Antenna Using F-Shaped Slot
A novel low profile antenna operating at a very high-frequency (VHF) band is presented in this communication. The antenna is composed of three-layer microstrip patch with F-shaped slot. Compared to the traditional VHF band antenna, this antenna has an extremely low profile of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{0.015\lambda}$</tex> at its lowest operating frequency. Simulated results show that its operating bandwidth ranges from 30 to 350 MHz with the voltages standing wave ratio (VSWR) less than 3 and the gain over -25dBi. The proposed antenna is a viable candidate for VHF communications.
