Design of Zero-Backtracking Antenna Array with Wide-angle Low-RCS Performance

This paper presents the design of a zero-backtracking antenna array with wide-angle low radar cross section (RCS) performance. Building upon the directional backtracking characteristics of the traditional Van Atta antenna array, this design achieves phase cancellation of reflected echoes from adjacent antenna elements by adjusting the transmission line phases. This reduces the scattered echo and lowers the backward RCS of the antenna array. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared to a metal plate of the same size, the antenna array achieves a reduction of 17 dB in RCS at the 0° incident angle, 20 dB at 10°, 6 dB at 40°, and 10 dB at 70°, effectively reducing RCS for incident waves within a wide-angle.
