A Compact Tri-Band Tri-Polarization Antenna for Autonomous Vehicles and Drones

This paper presents a tri-band antenna that supports three types of polarization for autonomous vehi-cles and drones. The proposed antenna employs a stacked structure. A left-hand circularly polarized (LHCP) radiating patch, fed directly by a coaxial probe, is printed on the first substrate. The second substrate hosts both a right-hand circularly polarized (RHCP) radiating patch and a linearly polarized (LP) radiating patch. The RHCP and LHCP patches operate in the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) B3 band and L band, respectively, while the LP patch works in the 2.7-3.05 GHz range. The third and fourth substrates incorporate feed networks for the LP and RHCP patches. Moreover, the antenna's overall size is only <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.14 \times 0.14\lambda_{0}^{2}$</tex>, making it quite attractive for autonomous vehicles and drones.
