Exploring Store-Carry-forward Networking on Emergency Alert Dissemination of Jakarta's Integrated Rail System
This paper explores the use of Store-Carry-Forward (SCF) networking in disseminating emergency alerts within Jakarta's integrated rail system. As a densely populated urban area, Jakarta requires reliable and timely communication, particularly during emergencies such as natural disasters or accidents. Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) using SCF are well-suited to overcome the frequent connectivity issues inherent in urban transportation networks. As preliminary research, the simulation incorporates fundamental transportation modes such as Mass Rapid Transit, Light Rail Transit, and commuter trains. It evaluates four routing protocols: Prophet, Spray and Wait, ProphetV2, and Epidemic. Results show that ProphetV2 offers the best balance of delivery probability and overhead, making it a strong candidate for emergency alert dissemination. Spray and Wait, though resource-efficient, is limited in delivery probability, while Epidemic, despite high delivery success, incurs significant delays and overhead.
