Resonance in Transformers and Energizing

Transformers are the most efficient, fixed electrical machines for converting electricity into usable form in the energy system. In transmission and distribution lines, they increase the voltage, decrease the current and increase the current, decrease the voltage. The power value remains constant and energy is transmitted with maximum efficiency. Core structure and winding design have a significant effect on the amplitude of the transformer inrush currents. Commissioning of transformers is important for lifespan and operation. In some cases, inrush currents can be as strong as short circuit currents. It will cause abnormal noise in the transformer for a while. In this study, the scenario that may occur during the commissioning of transformers is discussed. Electromagnetic analysis was performed for the inrush current in the sample transformer, the incident was investigated and the fault development was detailed.
