Eperimental Determination of the Performance Characteristics of a Medium Power Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors
On a global scale, interest in permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSMs) is continuously increasing, as their applications expand, particularly with the growth of renewable energy use and the electrification of transportation. It is also evident that PMSMs are also being increasingly used in high-performance robotics applications, which require not only accuracy and high performance but also speed controllers that provide flexibility and efficiency in both design process and application. Over the past decade, alongside rapidly advancing technological developments and the development of the power electronics integrated into these motor structures, energy efficiency and enviromental sustainability have maintained their importance in modern technology. This study reports the results of dynamic tests conducted in a laboratory environment using the Field-Oriented Control (FOC) method to examine the performance characteristics of a medium-power (110kW) Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor.
