Literature Review on Multiband, High Gain Antenna Design for Terahertz Applications
After the revolution that 5G technology has made in the field of communication, the amount of data has increased. At te same time, the need for higher speed is increasing day by day. High-speed wireless communication devices are needed to enable easier transmission of increased data at high speed. The need for high-speed transmission of data requires more complex miniaturized antennas that can operate in wide bands. Operation in the terahertz (THz) bands, or terahertz frequencies, focuses on the design of high gain antennas with much wider band, multi-band operation to meet the need for high speed communication. In this paper, we review the multiband antenna designs in the literature that operate in the THz frequency band and gain enhancement methods at THz frequency. Metamaterial structured antennas, the use of graphene as a radiating element and array antenna designs are examined and conclusions are presented. Challenges and dilemmas that arise in this direction are also discussed. This work is planned to be a basis for further studies.
