The Influence of Deformation Amplitude on the Characteristics of VIRC*
The mechanical stirring reverberation chamber has the disadvantages of high price and small available test space. A vibrating intrinsic reverberation chamber (VIRC) made of shielding cloth can solve these problems. However, the design of deformation amplitude of such a VIRC is a key factor. At present, the deformation amplitude of a VIRC can only be determined by empirical method, which lacks theoretical basis and is not enough to guide the construction of a VIRC. In this paper, a method for calculating the deformation amplitude of a VIRC based on volume disturbance is proposed. A VIRC with a geometric size of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{1.5}\mathbf{m}\times \mathbf{1.3}\mathbf{m}\times \mathbf{1}\mathbf{m}$</tex> was developed, and the spatial electric field uniformity of the VIRC was tested. The results show that the spatially uniform reverberation chamber environment can be obtained when the deformation amplitude is 20cm. When the deformation amplitude reaches 50cm, the uniformity of the VIRC becomes better, and the maximum standard deviation of the space electric field is less than 2.5dB, which meets the uniformity tolerance requirements, and can be used for electromagnetic compatibility testing.
