Design of a New Dual Polarized Waveguide Slot Antenna Array with High Polarization Purity
This paper presents a novel dual-polarized waveguide slot array antenna. The horizontal polarization antenna employs waveguide narrow-edge slots as the antenna array, while the vertical polarization antenna utilizes open-end waveguide structures slot antenna arrays loaded with double short-circuit blocks, These two forms of waveguide structures are arranged in an alternating pattern on the array surface, contributing to a reduction in antenna profile. These two antenna arraying approaches effectively suppress cross-polarization to a certain extent, with the cross-polarization level reaching approximately -71 dB, and the antenna demonstrates high polarization purity. Additionally, the antenna adopts the Taylor distribution for weighting, attaining the characteristics of high gain and low sidelobe. The designed antenna acquires a gain of 29.3 dBi in the horizontal polarization form, with a sidelobe of -26.1 dB, a gain of 29.7 dBi in the vertical polarization form, a sidelobe of -24.5 dB, and both null depths reach below -30 dB, which holds extensive application prospects in radar and communication systems.
