A Modified Sampling Rate for a Continuous Sampling using Dirac Comb

In this paper, a modified sampling rate, which is smaller than the usual Nyquist rate while allowing reconstruction of the signal, is determined for bandlimited signals using Amplitude Modulation (AM). The proposed modified rate is based on the fact that the discrete Fourier spectrum of the sampled signal contains the AM modulated versions of the original spectrum at integer multiples of the sampling frequency. Using that result a continuous time function is defined and it is used to remove the distorted parts of the signal spetrum due to aliasing. The proposed method is novel and valid for impulse sampling in continuous time. However, the method cannot remove the aliasing in discrete time due to the cyclic nature of the discrete time transforms. The study is going on to devise a valid method in discrete time.
