Computerized Ionospheric Tomography Based on Simulated STEC Along Small-Satellite Constellation-AIS/ADS-B Signal Rays
The Automatic Identification System (AIS)/ Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) signal received by satellites can be used to estimate slant total electron content (STEC) for computerized ionospheric tomography (CIT), and small satellites flying inside the ionosphere provide good opportunities for the ionospheric observation. STEC calculated using small satellite-AIS/ADS-B signals can be applied for high-resolution CIT. The CIT is performed using the simulated STEC along the small-satellite constellation-AIS/ ADS-B signal rays with a resolution of 5 km.
