LoRa Supported Location Detection for Man Overboard (MOV) Situations
This study presents an alternative positioning method for "man overboard" scenarios, a critical safety issue in maritime environments, where traditional GNSS systems may fail or become inoperative. Considering the risk of GNSS systems losing functionality in situations such as warfare, disasters, or crises, an algorithm has been developed for use in local areas. The algorithm operates using the trilateration method (Circle Intersection Method) based on RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) parameters and is capable of accurately detecting the position of a person who has fallen overboard up to a distance of 2 km. The results demonstrate that the algorithm provides an effective solution in such scenarios.
