Research on the Significant Wave Height Calculation Method and Its Influence on Electromagnetic Wave Propagation

Ocean wave is an important and complex marine hy-drographic element, in which, the significant wave height of ocean wave has a major impact on studying electromagnetic waves at sea. Based on the millimeter-wave radar wave monitoring system, this paper calculates the root-mean-square height deviation using the significant wave height obtained by the cross-zero method, and compares it with that calculated by the traditional empirical model using the wind speed. The effective reflection coefficient and electromagnetic wave propagation loss are further analyzed experimentally in conjunction with the parabolic equation (PE). The results show that there is a strong correlation between the root-mean-square height deviation and the effective reflection coefficient obtained by the two calculation methods, however, there are also large deviations in the values, and with the maximum deviation of the electromagnetic wave propagation loss reaching 11.51 dB For the actual marine environment, the significant wave height calculation method based on millimeter wave radar proposed in this paper is adopted, which has an important impact on improving the calculation accuracy of electromaanetic wave propagation loss.
