A Circularly Polarized Wideband Patch Antenna Array for RF Communication Applications
A circularly polarized broadband patch array antenna is proposed in this paper. The stacked structure well extends the antenna bandwidth. A <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$2^{\ast}2$</tex> antenna subarray is designed using sequential rotation feed technique and it is translated and expanded to get a <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$4^{\ast}4$</tex> antenna array. The paper also derives the phase excitation of the array antenna with rotation fed structure when the antenna beam scans at different angles. The simulation results show that the designed antenna has large gain and little axial ratio even at large scanning angles. The antenna shows good performance in large scanning angles and it can be applied in radio frequency communication.
