Wideband 3D Hexagonal Shaped MIMO Antenna System for Mmwave Vehicular Communication
In this paper, a compact non-planar six ports 3D hexagonal shaped MIMO antenna array system for mmwave vehicular communication is presented. Identical six 1 x 4 antenna arrays are arranged in 3D hexagonal shaped to attain pattern diversity and focus beam in the desired direction. Each of the six arrays consists of four rectangular shaped elements which are truncated in the top middle with partial ground plane. The Rogers RT5880 substrate with permittivity 2.2 and thickness 0.254 mm is used. The dimensions of each single array is 15 X 26 X 0.254 m3. All arrays of MIMO antenna system are operated in wideband frequency range from 24 GHz to 40 GHz. Good isolation is achieved among the array's configuration. The MIMO diversity parameters ECC, DG, CCI and MEG give well accepted values. This is a suitable 3D structure design for mmwave Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication and Internet of Things (IoT) communication systems.
