Study on Radar Reflectivity of Rain Clouds Based on Rayleigh Approximation
Accurate calculation of radar reflectivity for rain clouds is crucial for meteorological observation and weather forecasting. This study delves into the radar reflectivity of various types of rain clouds using the Rayleigh approximation method. Utilizing experimental data from the last century, we calculate and analyze the radar reflectivity for high-level clouds, maritime cumulus, nimbostratus, stratus, orographic clouds, continental cumulus, cumulonimbus, and congestus clouds. The radar reflectivity is primarily determined by two key parameters: the number density and the radius of the particles in the cloud. The results indicate that the radar reflectivity of different types of clouds, from low to high, is as follows: high-level clouds, maritime cumulus, nimbostratus, stratus, orographic clouds, stratocumulus, continental cumulus, congestus clouds, and cumulonimbus.
