Dual Polarised Ultra Wideband High Isolation Vivaldi Antenna
In this paper, an ultra-wideband (UWB) dual-polarised Vivaldi antenna is designed. Firstly, a resistor is loaded on the conventional antenna to enhance the bandwidth of the antenna, and secondly, two Vivaldi antennas with the same amplitude are placed vertically across to form two mutually perpendicular polarisation components. The antenna operates with a bandwidth of 12:1 (1–12 GHz), at which the isolation between the two antennas is -33 dB, and the cross-polarisation level is about 30 dB. The transverse electrical dimension of the antenna is only <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.14\lambda_{L}(\lambda_{L}$</tex> is the wavelength of the lowest operating frequency). The proposed antenna can be applied to UWB communication systems.
