Discriminating Polarimetric Backscattering Characteristics between Chaff Jamming and Ships
In this paper, the discriminating polarimetric characteristics for chaff jamming and ship targets is studied. The polarization invariant properties of chaff clouds and ships are compared, and the features with noticeable statistical differences are selected as the discriminating characteristics. The separability between chaff clouds and ships are demonstrated using support vector machine (SVM). Simulation results suggest that this set of polarization features can effectively discriminate ship targets from chaff jamming under moderate SNR, achieving a discrimination rate above 90%.
