Passive Radiometric Imaging System with Artificial Intelligence Based Object Detection

The Passive Radiometric Imaging System (PRIS), developed under TÜBİTAK MAM, stands out as a significant innovation in the field of security. This system detects natural Terahertz emissions radiating from the human body to identify objects concealed under clothing, such as explosive devices, firearms (pistols, rifles, knives), as well as illicit items like drugs, tobacco, meat, alcohol, and similar substances. PRIS converts these emissions into grayscale images, enabling the detection of objects without human intervention. In this study, instead of traditional image processing methods, artificial intelligence-based deep learning algorithms have been employed. These algorithms have achieved great success in object detection and tracking tasks, enhancing the system's accuracy and its capability to prevent security threats. Supported by deep learning techniques, PRIS facilitates faster and more reliable detection of potential threats, particularly in crowded areas, airports, and other critical security points. This approach aims to minimize security vulnerabilities and optimize preventive measures.
