Comparison of Various Frequency Selective Surface Geometries Designed for the X-Band Using Simulation and Modeling Methods
In this study, the electromagnetic performances of four different Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) designs in the X-band (8.212.4 GHz) frequency range have been comparatively analyzed. The Gridded Double Square Loop, Double Circular Patch, Cross Dipole, and Double Square Loop designs were simulated using CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS, and Equivalent Circuit Model (ECM), and the permeability, reflectivity, and resonance characteristics of each structure were examined in detail. The simulations revealed that the designs are optimized for X-band applications, and each design demonstrates high performance in both wideband and narrowband applications. A high degree of similarity was obtained between the ANSYS HFSS and CST simulation results, and the accuracy of the results was also supported theoretically by comparing them with the ECM method. The findings of this study indicate that the FSS designs presented here can be effectively used in X-band radome applications.
