Improved Matrix Mapping Method for Rectangular Planar Array Beampattern Synthesis

This paper proposes an improved approach for synthesizing sparse planar arrays using the improved matrix mapping method. By converting the optimization of array element positions into the optimization of increments in the x and y directions, the proposed method effectively addresses the challenges of designing sparse planar arrays under multiple constraints. These constraints include array aperture, element count, and minimum spacing between adjacent elements, while also avoiding infeasible solutions. Compared to existing matrix mapping methods, this approach affords greater flexibility in the allocation of the number of elements and their positional distribution. Numerical and full-wave simulations have validated the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed method, demonstrating its superior performance over existing solutions.
