Design of an Eight-Port UWB MIMO Antenna with Shared Radiator
In this paper, an eight-port UWB MIMO antenna with a shared radiator is proposed. The structure of the radiating unit of the proposed antenna is a planar polygon more closely resembling a circle due to the broadband effect of the circular patch. The ground plane of the antenna is optimized with a stepped structure mainly on both sides for good impedance matching. The ground planes are rotated 45 degrees to each other to reduce the coupling effect between the ports. The frequency range of the simulation is from 6.2 GHz to 45 GHz, and the isolation degree of S12 is mostly above 15 dB, while the rest of S13, S14, and S15 are mostly above 20 dB. The frequency band achieved by this antenna covers the X-band, Ku-band, K-band, and Ka-band and is suitable for satellite communication.
