High Gain Microstrip Array Antenna for 60 GHz Millimeter Wave Radar

A microstrip array antenna with high gain, low sidelobe, narrow beam width and easy integration is designed to realize high precision target location in millimeter wave radar system. The array feeding network is designed by series parallel hybrid feeding method. The Chebyshev synthesis method is used to realize the in-phase non-constant amplitude feeding of the array elements, which can effectively suppress the sidelobe level of the antenna while maintaining high antenna gain. The results show that the center frequency of the array is 60 GHz, the bandwidth is 1.96 GHz, and the gain is 21.9 dB. The half-power beam width on the H-plane is less than 11°, and the sidelobe suppression is -21.56 dB. The half-power beamwidth on the E-plane is less than 17° and the sidelobe suppression is -20.4 dB.
