A Low Sidelobe Microstrip Array Antenna
A low sidelobe miniaturized series feed microstrip antenna array is presented in the paper. The antenna adopts a microstrip-fed patch and sixteen microstrip antenna units arranged in a line array. By using weighted feeding method, the width of the patch elements is adjusted, so as to optimize the sidelobe level of E-plane. The designed antenna utilizes a series feed method, giving the antenna characteristics of a compact structure and low profile. The feed method can effectively reduce the cost and volume of feed network, raise the antenna radiation efficiency and space utilization. The results indicate that the gain of the antenna is above 17dB in the working band, and the sidelobe is -28dB. The half-power beamwidth in the E-plane is 7.8 degrees. The antenna can be used in 76.5GHz vehicle-mounted radar system.
