Study on LF Insulated Dipole Antenna in Seawater
A LF insulated dipole antenna for underwater wireless information transmission is proposed. The propagation characteristics of EM waves in seawater is analyzed. The insulation layer of the antenna is designed to mitigate effects caused by the big conductivity of the seawater. The radiation characteristic and return loss of the antenna with a matching network are given. The effects of the radius and relative permittivity of the insulation layer on the radiation property are discussed. This work may provide guidelines for the development of effective underwater communication systems.
