Characterization of ELF Noise in the Ionosphere
In this paper, we select the measurement data of the electric field instrument onboard the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES) in 2022 and analyze the electric field strength of the electromagnetic wave within the Extremely Low Frequency (ELF; 3∼300Hz) band, and find that there is not only the 50Hz or its harmonic signals but also 25Hz or its harmonic signals in the ionosphere at the altitude of the satellite orbit. The comprehensive analysis of the CSES multi-orbit probe data and the comparison of the electric field strength varied with the geographic location show that the above characteristics of ELF electromagnetic waves mainly appear in the middle and low latitude regions.
