Microwave/Millimeter-Wave Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Antenna with Beam Scanning in Millimeter-Wave Band

A dual-band dual-polarized shared-aperture antenna with beam scanning capability operating in sub-6G and millimeter-wave bands is proposed. The proposed antenna is a 4×3 cascaded triangular cavity array in the millimeter-wave band. The entire millimeter-wave array may resonate in the microwave band. Therefore, the same radiator can be used as a sub-6G antenna with a broadside radiation pattern as well as a millimeter-wave array. The radiator has a novel structure and a simple and compact design. Experimental results show that the gains in the sub-6 GHz and millimeter-wave bands are 5.2 dBi and 13.1 dBi at 3.25 GHz and 27 GHz, respectively. the isolation of the different ports is higher than 14 dB, and the millimeter-wave arrays provide beam-scanning performances of −27°-28° and −25°-23° at 0° and 90° polarization, respectively.
