A New Location Estimation Error Minimization Model Based on Wi-Fi and Mobile Phone for Indoor Mobile Nodes Considering Human Population
Nowadays, emerging needs and solutions driven by the fact that most of the people in active socio-economic life spend their time indoors have increased the importance of indoor positioning methods and their use in navigation technologies. Since traditional global navigation satellite systems do not work effectively, radio frequency based technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, RFID and UWB are preferred for indoor positioning. With its high potential for widespread use, Wi-Fi signals offer highly accurate positioning in a wide range of applications without requiring any additional hardware in existing WLAN infrastructures. In the new model presented in this paper, we propose a new approach for Wi-Fi based indoor positioning solutions by analyzing the effects of human presence, mobility and other relevant dynamic factors to improve the accuracy of precise location estimation, especially making use of instantaneous data from specific mobile phone sensors.
