A Novel Design of Angle Stable Frequency Selective Surfaces Using Characteristic Modes Analysis
An angle-stable frequency selective surface (FSS) with polarization insensitivity is designed using characteristic modes analysis (CMA) in this paper. By observing the mode behavior, the characteristic modes are classified into dominant modes and higher-order modes that affect the angle stability under oblique incidences In addition, the lumped elements are loaded guided by TCM in order to eliminate high-order modes, thus achieving the angle stability. The proposed structure achieves great angle stability via full-wave simulation.
