Cost-Effetive Power Grid Scheme for Fishing Vessel with Clean Grid Converter
In the contemporary maritime industry, operations focused on reducing carbon emissions on ships are becoming increasingly prevalent due to the mandatory regulations established by leading-organizations aiming to lower these emissions. In this context, alternative solutions such as the use of alternative energy sources, energy-efficient operations, and electric/hybrid propulsion systems are being employed. This study proposes a cost-effective electrical grid scheme with a clean grid converter for a fishing vessel. The proposed system utilizes a shaft generator/motor, which exhibits high energy-saving performance in the shipbuilding sector, and features a grid structure that differs through the use of a clean grid converter to create a clean AC busbar, based on the connection method. The system is designed to have both a variable frequency/voltage AC bus and a fixed frequency/voltage clean AC bus. The configuration and equipment are presented through a single-line-diagram, and the relevant advantages and disadvantages of system are evaluated.
