FAIR QUEUING ALGORITHM WITH QOS FOR BROADBAND WIMAX ACCESS NETWORKS TOGETHER WITH WIRELESS ERROR COMPENSATION

WiMAX is emerging broadband technology for the next-generation (NG) access networks.WiMax NG converged-access solution can meet the demand for mobility, bandwidth, reliability, security, and flexibility.WiMAX is used for longer distances (up to 31 miles), so more susceptible for errors and some times even link loss.In this paper we propose a novel algorithm to provide end to end Quality of Service (QoS) (between access point and user equipment) for the WiMAX access networks. The algorithm provides QoS together with fairness among end users, as well as compensation for wireless link errors.Because of the air interface there can be certain times when the user equipment (UE) is unable to communicate with access point (usually referred to as link error). These channel error can occur from multipath fading, shadow fading or interface from other device .Since the link errors are bursty and location dependent. The scheduling algorithm uses a one step prediction to determine if a mobile host will be able to transmit during its next assigned slot. For a proposed approach, the scheduler at the access point maps priorities and weights for QoS into wireless MAC .The compensations for errored links is provided by the swapping of services between the active users and the user data is divided into flows, with flows allowed to lag or lead. The algorithm guarantees short term as well as long term fairness among the users with QoS for various classes of traffic. It can provide the graceful degradation for leading flows and graceful compensation for lagging flows.
