The family is man's first and natural form of organization, the first place for the development of affectionate relationships and preparation for life in society. Parents have the duty to educate, but it is also from them that acts of love, care and protection are expected. The general objective of this article was to analyze the problematization of parents' emotional abandonment towards their children, considering that people who go through a process of emotional omission suffer various damages when their parents do not participate in their growth. Furthermore, the issue of reciprocity is addressed regarding the food obligation between parents and children in cases of effective emotional abandonment by parents, In this case, there is a relativization of reciprocity of assistance.
