The Influence of Russian-Chinese Trade Relations on the Formation and Organization of the Customs Service in Transbaikalia

The article examines the issues of establishing and developing Sino-Russian trade after the signing of the Nerchinsk Treaty. It is shown that the processes of creating and reforming the customs service in the Transbaikal region for centuries were directly dependent on the state of Sino-Russian trade relations. The reforms of the customs institution system in Transbaikalia during the period of state monopoly on foreign trade and liberalization of foreign economic activity in Russia are considered. It is concluded that when reforming customs authorities in Transbaikalia, it is necessary to take into account the Sino-Russian geographical proximity as a constant.
