Peace Values Through Photovoice : A PALAR Project with Indonesian EFL Islamic Secondary Teachers

Conclusion and LimitationsThis study reported on how Islamic Indonesian EFL English teachers engaged with photovoice to experience and create teaching English peace-based materials for Islamic secondary school-level learners.Photovoice enabled storytelling and dialogue about how Indonesian school teachers could promote peace values.Photovoice activities were also found to be particularly effective when teachers experienced the activities as students and then iteratively enhanced the materials by developing resources that aligned with their cultural and religious values. This study has both practical and theoretical significance and can inform teachers' teaching and materials development focusing on integrating peace values.Future work could focus on exploring the impact with students and using the same TPD approach in other contexts. However, as the study employed a small sample size, the findings cannot be generalized to other Islamic or religious classroom contexts without a larger scale study.
